I don’t understand the “logic” in withdrawing childcare vouchers to save money.
For many parents (usually working Mothers) the childcare voucher scheme is what makes it financially viable to work. If these Mothers were to give up working when childcare vouchers are withdrawn, then surely the government would lose more money in lost tax and NI revenue than it thinks it would claw back by not offering childcare vouchers.
I am also concerned about the part which says that after a certain date parents cannot join a voucher scheme (only continue in an existing one). I would think in lots of cases, this could mean that many parents who are currently claiming childcare vouchers wouldn’t be able to move jobs unless the new job came with a substantial salary increase to compensate for the childcare voucher benefit.
